Jobs

So just in case you have not heard, David and I are now employed. David is back at Petsmart (his all time dream job since he works with punk high-schoolers) and it is going well. He works in the specialty department, which is fish and all that jazz. I wont be surprised if by the end of the month he will have taken over the company. There are some perks to this job. A lady came in yesterday trying to get rid of her large salt water aquarium, although Petsmart does not take them, David does. Also we get 8 free weeks of dog training, which is nice becauseso far Timber has taken off about 4 times and almost been ran over by multiple cars, a snowplow, and almost beaten by David who has had to run after here in the blistering rain. The only reason we keep her around is becasue shes got a cute face.

I just started my job at Kids World. It is a day care for 4 months to 12 years. I am the head teacher for the school age class. I have my on huge room that I get to decorate and a bunch of kids to boss around. When the kids are at school (which is 6 of my 8 hours) I help in all the other classes. Its weird that I keep taking jobs that involve children since I don't really care for kids. Gods got a crazy sense of humor...

My head hurts, so here are some pics from Larrabee state park which is about 16 miles south of bellingham off the scenic chuckanut drive. which really is scenic.

The Eagle has landed

Well, I will say today was one of the best Washington experiences we had yet, it started off as a sunny day which if you dont know is somewhat rare up here.

Rachel and I headed east to deming eagle park, which is a beautfiul scenic walk around the nooksack river to view bald eagles and other eagles looking for the afternoon salmon lunch. It was truly exciting. After about 2 minutes of walking we spotted our first one perched up in a tree, but throughout our half hour walk we saw more than 15 different bald eagles and a couple larger brown eagles.

I would say about 8 of them we saw standing just about right under the tree they we're perched in.

Definitely a cool experience.

After the bald eagle exploration we decided to drive up Mt. Baker scenic byway which we lucked out with the sunshine all day. From out apartment it's probably a total of an hour drive, Passing through many farms until you start getting more into the mountainess area where the nooksack river follows you almost all the way and viewing snowcover peaks on every turn.

some more mountains, these peaks are pretty powerful. Hopefully in summer time i can take some good hikes to get some even better pictures.

from snow to...

Well it's a couple days late, but the last situation was that everything was covered in snow and it was pretty...

but now after just a couple days of increased temp (40's) the snow dissappeared

Just like that, me and rachel are kind of bummed because we we're enjoying the snow but the driving is easier and now we can do a bit more outdoors.

the unfortunate part about all of this is... this is rare weather even for northern washington, the sudden increase in temp and alof of rain mixed with melting snow caused some recent flooding.

ummm.... though this is sad it is not the picture i was looking for.

When one is unemployed, one tends to be a smarter shopper (at least I hope so). So as David and I are currently unemployed we have been shopping at a second hand store here in Lynden. We have both shopped at stores similar to this throughout the years but never for "big purchases". Now looking at all the stuff we have got at a ridiculous price, I wonder if I can ever pay full price on certain items again.

The title 6.78 is what we spent yesterday on 14 books and this awesome coffee table-cabinet thing. It has a painted checker/chess board on top (which david will repaint), and came with all the pieces.

The "big" purchase we did make was David's new recliner chair (which I still have a little apprehension towards). But he loves it so we got it. We were about to get one in a lot worse condition but when we brought the tag to the counter we were informed that everything was half price (nothing like a half price sale at a second hand store). So we splurged and got the more expensive one (which at half price was pretty cheap).

Some more....

Our trip up was pretty boring and wet but we did see a couple cool things.

We drove over the Golden Gate Bridge (which was a first for Rachel).

We also stopped in some nice rest areas, like this one which had tons of blue jays and an overflowing river next to it.

Then we drove through the Avenue of the Giants which was pretty muddy so we kept my shirt nearby to wipe of Timbers muddy paws.

Then of course we had to stop in Trinidad which was beautiful but really wet. We had to walk down quite a staircase to get to the beach (which wasn't so bad except you know you have to walk all the way back up to get in the car.

Next we saw this .... which I don't remember what its from or how I know it but i was fast asleep and Rachel slammed on the brakes and made a hard right and when I awoke this is what I saw

We arrived shortly after that, to one messy house. Soon we will have new pictures of our place in order but that could take a while. Hope you enjoyed our trip and more to come soon!

Our journey to Washington

Let us start by saying, if verizon wasnt so difficult we would have had this up a week ago. on that note

Sunny California to

well... not so sunny Washington

Well we left on dec 27th from La Habra, CA and arrived in Lynden, WA 3 days later, i would fill our reader in with tons of interesting stories about our trip, but uneventful it was and i guess it's better that way. although rachel and timber did become soul mates on our trip.

Let's get to the somewhat interesting stuff. currently we are unemployed and barely looking. our apartment is wonderful, with 3 bedrooms and storage, it seems about twice the space as our one bedroom and roughtly half the price (pricing may be exagerated)

Timber was fortunate enough to find a dog park withen walking distance, and a couple of willing owners to let her frolic in the snow (which she really seems to enjoy)

Sorry this posting isnt more exciting, i'm kind of sick and dont care that much.

ok on to some more interesting facts of david and rachel.

Rachel has just informed me that nothing has really happened.

currently it's about 35 degrees, the sun doesnt poke through our window until about 8:30 which means we are not up till about 9:30, and by 11 or so we are off onto adventures. like today oh the excitment was too much after we learned that most stores seem to be closed on monday morning, we ventured over to the recycling center to drop off our boxes. and since the sun drops around 4ish we end up inside and watch t.v. till i put a couple bottles down and drift away into another 14 hours of sleep.

actually it's a bit better than that. though we have moved at a time when the snow level is higher than it has been for about 12 years, we are thoroughly enjoying it. living in snow is a new and exciting experience. this is a picture of the park that is about 100 yards from our front door. not bad of a view. the mountains are pretty pretty.

we are looking forward to Amy coming up to visit, she will be the first. which we do have a room and a bed ready for you Amy, though we are trying to add some furniture so it's not just a mattress in the middle of the room. but ready we are.
