Mountain Range on the way to Whistler

Whistler

My wonderful husband took me to Whistler for my birthday this past weekend. It was awesome. We were just going to go up for the day but it was so nice we decided to stay overnight and make it a mini weekend vacation. First we stopped off in Squamish which is world renowned for its climbing and outdoor recreation. Climbing

Our sweet hotel room. Very Modern Cabin feel.

This area was closed off for repairs but that didn't stop us from taking a quick look.

5 Reasons Why My Dad is Better Than Yours

1. He sends me candy bars and books in the mail just because
2. He bought me a gun for my 12th birthday
3. He believes in making things delicious not "low-fat"
4. He cried like a baby at my wedding
5. He leaves me a message singing "Happy week before your birthday"

1 out of 20 aint bad

So don't get me wrong we really like living in Washington, But we have only had 1 full day of sunshine in the past 20 days or so. Which isn't that bad except it is the month of June and I am done with the rain. On the one day of sunshine we decided we were going to make the most of the day so when I got off at noon we were going to skip our afternoon nap and go straight for our hike. Which was a good idea except after the 30 minute drive to the trail we were so tired we took a nap in the car.
Side note: We take naps (which range from 1-3 hours) at least 3 times a week, which seems a little excessive for 2 people in their twenties with no children.
Went for a hike then went for some well deserved ice cream.
The day before that we decided we weren't going to let the rain stop us so we went up to Vancouver to this awesome park with tons of trials and streams. You could even go see some of the nearby aquariums beluga whales. Timber almost got attacked by 2 separate raccoons and we saw a turtle. Afterwards we ate in downtown and got to see some of the Olympic areas but we didn't stay too long because 1 quarter in the parking meter only got you 4 mins. Which to me seems a little bit excessive. And by the time we got home at 5:30 we were ready for our 2 and a half hour nap.
